6 Years!

Six years ago today Adam and I had our first date to Monster Trucks!

I was so enamored by this boy that moved in across the street from me. He showed immediate interest. No games were played. He liked me and he treated me like he liked me. He wasn't embarrassed for anyone else to know it! That is a rare thing to find in boys these days!

Six years ago tomorrow we had our first kiss! Yep, I kissed him. During the Super Bowl. He came over after church for dinner, and mysteriously all my roommates disappeared for the day. We spent the day together cuddling on the couch. He insisted on having conversation with me about 2 inches from my face. So I got the awkwardness over and kissed him! We went out that evening to a church activity and he held my hand in public. I know that sounds stupid, but after dating SEVERAL guys that would love to cuddle in private, but as soon as anyone else was around they didn't want anything to do with me, it was refreshing to have a guy really like me.
Six years and 13 days ago, (Valentine's Day,) he stayed up all night long cutting out little red hearts. He decorated my room with paper hearts, chocolate kisses, and roses placed on my pillow in the shape of a W.

Six years later I still get excited when he holds my hand, kisses me, and lets me know he likes me.

Fun Christmas

We had a great Christmas holiday.

Dad came!

Dad and me with cousin Matt.

We had Christmas Eve dinner at grandma's house. Prime rib and silver goblets. Mmmmmm so good! If you haven't ever drank cold water from a real silver goblet, you have to figure out a way to do it sometime. It just feels cool on your lips.

Got to see cute Macy for about 10 minutes.
We enjoyed a reenactment of the Christmas story.

We made mustaches out of cookies.

Christmas morning.

We have had a few guests that have complained that our house is too cold. To them we say, follow Tom's example. He knows how to dress for winter!

Adam's first craft! This almost deserves a post of it's own. Adam stayed up very late on Christmas Eve to make Charlee and me matching t-shirts. The first thing he said when we opened them, with gusto, "my first craft!" Love him!
We had naps. (Look closely, Adam is in there!)

We even found time to go country dancing!

As you can tell, it was such a wonderful Christmas!

Home Made Christmas

I normally don't decorate very much for Christmas. I have blog posts from Christmas past to explain why, but this year when I found out my sister and dad would be at our house for the holiday, well I couldn't very well not have a tree. So as I started tree shopping, I quickly found out that for someone who has never had a tree before, starting from scratch is VERY expensive! Not cool when it's only going to be up in my house for about 25 days, then die and get thrown away. So I came up with the brilliant idea of home made Christmas! All of our tree decorations, and Christmas presents we gave this year, were home made! I'll do a post on the presents later.

Adam and I made ginger bread cookies for tree decorations:

But, as I have mentnioned before, I have an infatuation with glitter. I couldn't bring myselef to put plain brown cookies on my tree. Soooooo, a little Elmer's spray glue and the Martha Stewart glitter that I finally got, and voila!

I have to say they turned out even better than I expected! Adam was such a huge helper stringing a needle and thread through several of the cookies to hang on the tree. I eventually figured out that it would be MUCH faster and easier to just glue gun a ribbon loop to the ornaments. But, Adam still deserves major points for the hours of forcing a needle through a rock hard cookie!

For garland we strung popcorn. So cute, but much more work than I expected. We strung popcorn for about 6 hours between the two of us, and only ended up with enough to go around the tree 3 times. But, it still turned out very cute.

The only thing on the tree that isn't edible are the lights. Other than that, all home made!!!! So much money saved!

Random thought of the day ...

Just sitting at work, listening to the Kenny G Christmas album and thinking, "Is it weird that I like this?" I usually pretend in front of Adam that I don't like Kenny G, but secretly, I kind of do. How 1995 is that?

The good and the bad

While I love my new office in historic down town Provo, there are a few things not to love. Well wait, I'll tell you what I love first, and then what I don't. I love the character of the building. It was built in the early 1900's so it has very cool wood detailing everywhere. It has really beautiful tall ceilings, and windows. I love the vibe in down town Provo. There are always people out an about. We are very close to some of the best restaurants in Provo, so that is fun too. And I love all the big old trees that are around. Also, we have found that having a dumpster situated right below our office window can provide a fun, slightly more challenging, way to take the trash out. We have only missed once or twice.

Now on to my complaints. Not so in love with all the weirdos around here. We never had this problem at our old office, but around here there are several mentally unstable people. Whether they are homeless or not is debatable, but they are definitely weird. I can honestly say that I have been more creeped out walking to my car here than I ever was walking to or from work in New York City. So I carry a little bottle of pink pepper spray. Over kill? Probably, but you can never be too safe.

This little guy is my only other complaint: Luckily my business partner isn't terrified of mice like I am. He was the heroic captor in this situation. The ironic thing is I have a cute little pink stuffed mouse sitting next to me on my desk. It's cute, the live one isn't. We have since sealed up several holes in the closet in hopes of keeping our furry little friends out.

On a side note I did try singing like Giselle on Enchanted to see if I could get the friendly little vermin to come clean my office, but it didn't work. So I decided if they were going to eat our food and not work for it, they had to go!

I want this

I LOVE glitter. Like, really love glitter. Anything with glitter on it is better. I have even thanked God in my prayers before for glitter because it makes me happy. Maybe if I pray for this glitter set it will show up on my door step? Maybe.
